An individual who spiked sweets with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer camp in the region has confessed to sexual offences against two boys both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight children and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in recently.
The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his stepson notified the authorities about his worries.
She stated the defendant went on to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The prosecutor said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
